First of all wishing you all a Very Happy (though belated) New
Year! Usually, with start of new year, job hopping season is also in full swing. In life, I
have come across many people who never ever ever ever want to leave a job,
when ever they grab one until someone kicked them out (I am not kidding at all). And this species of employees
exists even today! On other hand, I know several of those too who are just looking for some reason to quit a job. And I m seriously serious that some people can quit at the drop of a hat (I bet you know a few, who knows you are one of them).
Usually people don't disclose the actual reason. Anyways, I was just wondering what if people start leaving jobs for reasons other than normal. And here is what I found. Some of the unique reasons to quit a job. If you feel like using them, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, I take no responsibility for your actions!!! So here are some of Serious (Pun intended) reasons to quit a job:

Too high wage: Oh, they are paying me too much. They are spoiling
me. I am earning more than I can spend and I don't have a wife also, I
must quit this job.
(Only people who fall into this category are CXOs or Politicians. Hope neither of my Ex-Boss nor Future Boss read this. :-P)
Quick Career Advancement: Oh they are making me a Manager, Why me? I'm getting bored of the promotions! Besides I don't even know how to pass the buck to others for my mistakes!
My Office is too close to my Home:
Outside Mumbai: I want to enjoy riding to my office for two hours and use that time to read a book or catch some sleep.
In Mumbai: I don't wanna miss the free of cost work out I get from public transport. ("Exercises" in the form of Running around to catch the Bus or Train, "Stress Test" by way of people hurling abuses when they are late, "Increased patience level" by way of sitting/standing when the vehicle you are in doesn't move for hours due to slow moving traffic.)
They don't provide Coffee in office: They don't care about employees and their health. They want us to keep working. I mean come on, do we come to workplace to work?
They allow too much Coffee in Office: They are after my health, they want me to die from caffeine. I quit.
They are already too successful: This company is too big and already highly successful. There are no bad times. No fraud people. Not even remote possibilities of fraudulent practices. In absence of such things, I have nothing great to do or bad to prevent. They will not think of me as their hero or Saviour. I Quit.
Low work load: I am tired of being able to come home on time due to low work load. It's outrageous. Everyone around me works long hours. Goes to Pubs and Discos to DE-stress from work. And all I have is entire evening with me and nothing to rant about!
Lunch break: They have just one hour Lunch break which is too short for my appetite… I mean can you believe it? Just one hour. And guess what? I'm expected to come back after my lunch break. They don't even let me take a short nap after lunch. How unfair!
Personal life: Because I feel like I am in prison when I am at work. I am not allowed to see personal mails or receive personal calls. I can't even do online shopping.
TV issues: I am tired of catching the Cricket scores on Cricinfo. I’d rather join a Company that can afford a TV… or may be a Company that has a big board room with a big LCD screen or Projector screen and who would allow us to work during commercial breaks when important matches (like Indo - Pak) are on.
Performance of Indian Cricket Team : I have noted that the Indian Cricket Team does better whenever I watch the matches from home… No kidding. Every time I watch it at home, they win. Whenever we loose I feel more guilty than the captain of Indian team. I feel I could have stayed at home and avoided it if you hadn't given me work to do.(Only people who fall into this category are CXOs or Politicians. Boss is leaving: I’ve heard rumours that Boss will be leaving soon. Since the only source of entertainment is gonna disappear, I don’t see any point in sticking around any more…after all employees leave the bosses and not the company.
Sleep deprived: Because after a strenuous home life, when I reach office to take some rest, I am not allowed to sleep!
Miscellaneous:
- I want to pursue my childhood dream of watching the grass grow…
- Since you’ve denied my request for bringing my pet Python to my cubicle, I quit…
- My colleague harassed me by saying, ‘main tere bachchey ki maa banney wali hoon...’
- I badly need a Hundred Crore rupees. I don’t think this miserly organization has enough loose cash to lend me the same…
In conclusion I just want to share a joke which somehow is very true...
Centuries ago, people who sacrificed their sleep, family, food, laughter and other joys of life, were called SAINTS.
Now they are called ....
EMPLOYEES! ;-)
Superlist!! You always think in the places where others hardly do!! :) :) :)

Another masterpiece from you. Well driven and written.
ReplyDeleteSome reasons are actually in my excuse list like "they allow too much coffee in office", "low work load", "insufficient time given for lunch break", "tv issues" and my personal reason: "My boss was less qualified and less technically sound than me" (which you forgot to mentioned :p)
