Petrol prices rise again....

And Petrol prices rise again. So what???!!! I don’t get what is this fuss about rise in petrol prices. Why can’t people see how much Govt cares for us? This rise is actually a blessing in disguise.

Oh come on, don’t you want to enjoy good or rather perfect health and lead a loooooong life? With this hike in prices, we all will be on roads again (literally). Now people will be less dependent on means of road transport, be it private or public and will start walking. Yes! That’s the point my friend. If you start walking daily, you are surely going to end up with better health (loss of weight is another bonus for people wanting to shed those extra kilos).

Yes, I do agree this will impact rickshaw and taxi walas. But I guess they can switch to Tonga Cycles, the ones used in olden days. They are much better, less polluting and much cheaper. See, this will lead to huge savings for 'aam janata'. In fact even we can switch to cycles. Wow! I just imagined streets flooded with cycles. Do I need to tell you all how Cycling is beneficial to health?

If this is not enough, think of it this way. There will be less vehicles plying on road which means less traffic (Hahaha...come on... You must be kidding if you think there can ever be zero traffic... This is India boss!!!). I am sure everyone will swear by current state of traffic jams. If not for periodical rise in petrol prices there would be continuous increase in no of vehicles plying on the road and we would be living life out of traffic jams. Our Life would be something like this - Corporates would be holding meetings at various signals, Students might be writing papers online while they are stuck in traffic, There will be emergency van at every nuke and corner to attend to patients and pregnant ladies because traffic will increase so much that they will never make it to the hospital!

Last but not least owning a vehicle will again be a status symbol.Owning even a NANO Car would make you feel like you are maharaja/rani of Patiyala or Jhumritaliya! Come on, not everyone can afford petrol at such high prices.

But yes, on a flip side, it will cause social damage by way of dowry. You see, people will start asking for lifelong supply of petrol as dowry. Another drawback is now instead of stealing bikes/cars, thieves will only have to open their petrol tanks, hike made their life easy!

If you ignore these negative aspects, I feel Hike is for our own benefit.

So stop whining and start walking!
